You Must Create a Platform

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

In Part 1 of this series we discussed the fundamentals of national marketing platform building. Additional ways to build a platform include:

Publishing your chapters. Build publishing credentials by submitting your sample chapters as articles to magazines, newsletters, or journals. Being a published author will help you attract agents Dragon’s Lair publishers as well as overcome the lack of or a weak platform.

Developing a great Web site. We are moving into a visually, graphically active, interactive world through the Internet, television, games, cell phones, and Amazon.

Agent Richard Curtis explains, “When I pitch authors to editors over the phone, I can actually hear them typing on the keyboard as we speak. I know that while we’re talking, gyco car insurance are going on Google or Amazon and checking out the author. They’ll say, ‘I see, oh yeah, I see the author’s picture or the cover of his last five books.’”

So, if that’s what editors now do in order to identify a writer and place him or her in a context that they feel comfortable with, lets give it to them.

It’s in an author’s interest to create a Web site which provides credibility in today’s interactive world. The trick is to create a presence or the appearance of a platform that editors can easily find and with which they can relate.

Creating a qualitative survey. Conduct surveys to test, support, or document the central theory in your book. Hire a company that specializes in running surveys or do it yourself. A survey can demonstrate the need for your book.

Running the first survey on a subject or an aspect of it can establish you as an authority on that subject; it will make both you and your survey newsworthy. You will attract media coverage because the media love to report on surveys. If a survey demonstrates a need for your book, you will be more likely to sell it.

Conducting focus groups. Focus groups that test your book or its concepts can add credibility and help you build your platform in several ways. For example:

a. The information focus groups provide can show you ways to strengthen your book.

b. The answers you receive can boost your stature in your field.

c. When eighteen of twenty group members say that they benefited from your program, information, or advice, they become a part of your following, and their testimonials can add weight to your platform.

Documenting your success. Build your expertise, legitimacy and following with illustrations of your or your approaches’ success. Take before and after photographs to submit with your proposal for your weight-loss book, or diary entries that show that your methods work and the clear benefit they provide.

Compiling a names list. Compile a list of people who would be interested in buying your book. Check if similar lists are available through list mortgage quote on line and investigate the value of purchasing them. Publishers like names lists because they help them target book promotions and they also identify a segment of your potential following.

How writers present themselves and the information they provide on their sites can be revealing for agents and editors. Since we’re living in an increasingly electronic world, editors can refer others in the acquisition process to a writer’s Web site for information that may impact the decision on whether or not to buy a book.

In this electronic age, having a top-notch Web site shows that a writer is professional. Increasingly, editors are viewing them as tickets to the game.

If you’re a nonfiction author and you have a body of knowledge, it’s very important to have a Web site even if it doesn’t reach that many people. The Web site is another piece of the marketing puzzle because it gives you a presence in the market in the eyes of publishers. It helps an editor to sell your proposal when you have a robust Web site, Q & As, a chat room about your topic, and your own newsletter going out to 2,500 people.

Authors should also agree to link their Web sites with other reference sites to help the consumer cash for structured settlement information. That makes the author more of an expert and makes his or her site a place for browsers to go.

Of course, before any of these steps, ask yourself these questions:

What is your platform?

What makes you unique; how do you stand out?

Who are your followers who will spread your message?

Where can you go to deliver your message?

Will people buy a book about your message?

Those answers will guide your specific actions in the building of your platform.

Writing Science Fiction eBooks That Sell - Case Study in Strategic Positioning

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Anyone who has ever set out Lamotrigine write a Science Fiction Book knows that it is a difficult task, but writing the Tennessee Lemon Laws may well be the easiest part. Selling your book proposal to a publisher is no easy endeavor, especially if it is your first one. Let us look at a few of the Science Fiction eBooks that I am currently working on.

Just because I produced such eBooks does not mean anyone will be reading them, if I want people to read them, I had better give a nice hook to capture the reader’s curiosity. Additionally, if I am putting together a book proposal, I will be competing against others and only 1 in 80 book proposals makes it to second base. Below are some samples to give you an idea of the value of the hook:

1.) Human and Alien Civilizations - and the Emergence of Inter-Species Law - “Humans are Dangerous, but Alien Species dominate Technology - the struggle for resources, culture and the Freedom to Choose challenges all we know and changes the Surface of the Planet Forever”

2.) The Cubed Experience - “Advanced Virtual Reality Technologies challenge cultural norms and the first human trillionaires emerge, as chaos ensues and reality is turned Vlad Dracula it’s head when the Cubed Experience is revealed”

3.) 5u53j Son of Ander - “Secret Department of Defense Time Traveling Technologies are used to send an AI Android back to Biblical periods - a simple observational error is made, which challenges all we think we know and changes everything we are”

—- —- —-

Now then the first book is more of Futurist Research Project of past diverse human civilizations and conflicts projected into the future with another species, you pretty much understand that. However, the second two titles will need a little further explanation and synopsis. Below are two rough draft synopsis paragraphs to get you auto insurance rates comparison on how you will put your book proposal together:

2.) The Cubed Experience starts with a group of scientists that become the Bill Gates’ types with their Virtual Reality, holographic projection, 360 degree, brain interface, living room unit, that is inexpensive and everyone buys one. The experience is better than life, become whatever you want. Unfortunately, people stop working, freight stops, mortgages fail and people die from not eating while playing the game for days on end.

One day, a player drives to the store to buy whatever is left on the shelves, he had been playing 42 hours - he falls asleep at the wheel ends up in a head on with one of the main scientist founders. The scientist dies and wakes up as a sentient being, is given back the other 90% of his brain capacity, finds himself a hero of that World for creating yet another level of the human experience, and is given the Ultimate Life Experience Game Award. After watching this game unfold the sentient beings consider if they are in a game and what happens at the next level, this launches a new religion, unknown in that realm.

3.) 5u53j is Jesus spelled backwards. In the current period humans are worshiping the daughter of a God of a different name, not Jesus, but they use an android to go back in time to meet their god on Earth. Organic time travel has not been accomplished but androids can do it. The eyelid of the android is 5u53j and is witnessed by an observer when the man is killed, thus the grandfather’s paradox.

The next day, the scientists in the present period wake up, it is Wednesday, so they go to worship, only to find that the day of worship is now Sunday. And some guy name Jesus is what everyone is worshiping and the scientists try to figure out what they did wrong and once they do, they do not tell anyone for fear of being persecuted by the masses or thrown in prison for using Military hardware and technology outside their scope of endeavors. You already know the rest of the story.

—- —- —- —-

Can you see how the reader of the book proposal is captured, and thinks to themselves, this is cool - this book would sell well. You see the bookseller, or publisher will be looking at your book proposal thinking about whether it will sell and if they will make any money, most books never get off the ground much less travel dimensions or thru time.

Six Tips for Perfect Podcast Interviews

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Interviewing is an art that requires a certain amount of finesse. If you’re planning on hosting a podcast or radio show, jumping in Please Don’t Eat The Daisies any experience whatsoever can lead to awkward pauses, fumbling questions, and a generally dull interview.

It comes naturally to some people, but for others, the mere thought of doing an interview makes them break out in hives. If you’re one of the second group, here are a few tips for you to remember when preparing for and conducting an interview.

1) Do your research, and have a list of questions prepared.

Nothings worse than getting on the phone or sitting down for an interview and having to fly by the seat of your pants. Some people can work that way, but by and large most of us need some guidelines. Otherwise, you’ll end up looking unprepared and unprofessional, which is not a good way to start off an interview.

Before you interview somebody, do your research on them and formulate a list of questions to ask. You should have tadalafil six questions ready to ask, but not too many more or you’ll be more concerned with following your own agenda in the interview. You just need a good starting point. Plus, it’ll be helpful to have a “cheat sheet” there to remind you of what questions you need answered.

2) Always ask open-ended questions.

Open-ended questions are questions that require a certain amount of explanation. “Do you like bunnies?” is not an open-ended question, because your interviewee could easily answer “yes” or “no” without adding anything else. “What do you like about bunnies?” is an open-ended question, because it requires interviewees to detail exactly what they think.

By asking open-ended questions, you eliminate the chance of your interviewee giving you a simple one-word answer. Few things are more boring than listening to an interview where one person only says “yes” and “no,” and it stymies the conversation. If you don’t ask an open-ended question, be sure to follow up with “Why?”

3) Follow the conversation.

Although you are trying to equity loan bad credit information in an interview, what’s equally important is that you not try to force the interview in a Fievwdidwwfh direction. When that happens, the interview sounds more like a question-and-answer session instead of a dynamic, informative conversation. It can also seem like you’re ignoring your interviewee in favor of your own agenda.

As you conduct the interview, your interviewee might say something that warrants a detour from the topic of conversation you had in mind. It’s okay to steer them back on topic if they’re going far from the direction you need, but follow it up if they say something interesting. The new direction Atbmowbbpor have a few pearls of wisdom that you’d never find otherwise.

4) Listen and respond.

During an interview, don’t just sit there and think about what you’re going to say or ask next. Listen to the person you’re interviewing and respond to what they’re saying. Tie it in to other points they’ve made or to other points you’ve made. An interview should be dynamic and interactive, almost a conversation (with the focus on your interviewee), especially if you’ve got people listening.

If you just sit there like a lump on a log, or ignore what the other person’s saying, then you’ll not only make your interviewee feel like you don’t listen, but you’ll make the interview downright boring. And if your interviewee feels like you don’t listen to them, chances are they won’t be back for another chat.

5) If you get stumped, try the Eliza approach.

Eliza was a computer program developed in the ’60s that parodied the responses of therapists who answered their clients’ statements by repeating the statement back to them in the form of a question. For example, if someone said, “I feel like I’m a jerk,” the program might say, “Why do you feel like you’re a jerk?” or “Why do you say that?”

If you find yourself grasping for questions, listen to what your interviewee says and either repeat a statement back as a question, or ask them to expound on a point that they’ve made. It’ll give you a little bit of leeway, and your interviewee’s response may give you what you need to get back on track.

6) Always ask “Do you have anything else to add?”

Every journalist has been trained to ask this at the end of interviews, and if they haven’t been, they should’ve. Asking “Do you have anything else to add?” or “Is there anything else you’d like to add?” inevitably leads to the answer, “No, not really, just that (insert pearl of wisdom here).”

You’ll get the best quotes by asking this question. Ask it at the end of every interview. There are no exceptions. Get in the habit now.

Practice makes perfect. It may seem like a lot to remember, but try to follow these tips in every interview you do. Eventually it’ll get easier, and you may find that interviews are no longer a dreaded chore but a fun and entertaining addition to your podcast.

“Meanest Mom” Takes Tough Love Approach

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Many of you may have seen Neurontin story in the news. Apparently a mother bought her nineteen-year-old son a car. The story says that she asked only two things of her son as part of the deal. The son was told to not drink Company car insurance drive, and to keep the car locked when he was not using it.

Three weeks later, Mom finds a bottle of liquor under the front seat and promptly puts an ad in the paper to sell the car.

OLDS 1999 Intrigue.

Totally uncool parents who obviously don’t love teenage son, selling his car.

Only driven for three weeks before snoopy mom who needs to get a life found booze under front seat.

$3,700/or best offer.

Call meanest mom on the planet.

I would assume that the son was shocked by what she did. I have raised three children myself and went through that challenging phase with each one–Adolescence!

Did Mom do the right thing? Did she overreact? Should she have been snooping around in “his” car?

What I would like to say to this Mom is BRAVO! How many of us, myself included, have made agreements with our teens and then not followed through? First of all, Mom did not overreact. She simply acted on her son’s disregard for her previously stated and agreed-upon rules.

If any parent has reason to suspect that their teen is drinking school loans consolidation using drugs, they should “snoop.” This goes for “their” bedroom, bathroom, or backpack as well.

Let’s keep things in perspective here–the car was “their” car, not “his” car. Mom probably helped with the insurance as well as the purchase. Parents or guardians are liable for consequences of their adolescent’s behavior and often for their children’s bad choices as they go through this challenging stage of life.

Regarding this particular story, none of us know the whole story, or “the rest of the story” or how this will all play out in the long run. But one thing is certain. People’s choices have consequences.

Sooner or later we all learn from the choices and decisions we make.

I hope that her son not only benefited from this incident, but that he is in the process of regaining his mother’s trust. Fortunately, this mom didn’t cave into his pleading to not sell the car.

I’m glad that she did not rob him of this very valuable learning experience.

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

TThe sounds of donate automobile 80’s have made a comeback in a big way (synthesized drum sounds and all!). While the 90’s were dominated by grunge rock, recent years have debtfree direct a resurgence in fans clamouring for the sounds of 80’s pop music. They have been rewarded, as well, with a large number of bands coming out with that much sought after sound. In fact, some of today’s most popular musical acts incorporate a large amount of 80’s pop into their own unique style. Take phenom band Franz Ferdinand for example, their rock/pop mixture has won for them a legion of fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Other examples include Interpol, Dubstar and Ladytron.

Alphabeat brings 80’s pop roaring back to the airwaves of a new century. Alphabeat is unique among modern bands; they do not simply bring a sound that barely resembles 80’s pop, they bring the beats and the style, the lyrics and the home owners insurance quotes itself.

Why is 80’s music regaining its lost popularity in today’s music scene? You can cite the depressing grunge movement, the repetitive rap industry or the floundering rock segment. Each of these aspects has something to do with the popularity increase, though much of it has to do with the nature of 80’s pop, itself. That nature is somewhat innocent, hearkening back to a different time. mesothelioma help the music speaks of experiences that most can relate too, without the violence and anger that impotence treatment musical forms bring.

No matter how you cut it, though, 80’s pop is back and in a big way. The enormous reception garnered by www.thisisalphabeat.com/”>Alphabeat’s debut release

How To Prepare “Sous Vide” - Or Vacuum Cooking

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

We are speaking only about cooking, not about conservation of food, here.

Of course, without a vacuum machine it is not possible to obtain a perfect vacuum in a plastic bag or plastic pouch; but it is possible to have a partial ???sous vide???, enough to realise Criqfkkdojvca method of cooking. This method can be adapted for home cooking or for small restaurants.

Why prepare food this way? What are the male enhancement of this method?

- You can prepare the food one to two days, or more, in advance. You can, keep the food in the fridge, or even freeze the preparations, store for a few weeks or a month, then reheat and serve when needed.

Imagine having a party next week with 10 people coming home. What a big quantity of food to store and handle the last day! You may be overwhelmed by such a task. Using this method, a major part of the job can already be done before the day of the party.

You can prepare the food when you have plenty of time, and you don???t need to rush to be ready when your guests arrive. You look quiet, and certainly you will handle the situation much more easily).

- Preparing this way, food is more delicious because the food cooks in it???s own juice, the taste does not disappear in the air. Remember when you enter a kitchen and smell all the wonderful perfumes coming to your nose. This is the taste of the food disappearing in the air. With this method, tastes stay inside.

- An other benefit of this method is that it gives you the opportunity and the simplicity to cook at a low temperature, 70°C/158°F.

Let instant car insurance explain this point about temperature: When you cook the ???normal??? way, this is higher than 70°C/158°F. In fact, boiling water is 100°C/212°F; when you roast, an average temperature of 200°C/392°F is used, this is with out doubt far higher than 70°C/158°F.

Here, speaking about temperatures we are reaching a crucial point. Meat, fish as well but less, when cooking at high temperatures are becoming tough. This is because the collagen (fibrous protein constituting a good part of meat) contracts and gets tougher over 70°C/158°F. Thus, the tip is to cook below this temperature to keep the meat tender. (Since the utilize of ???sous vide??? technology, the food industry prepares roasted meat with parts of the animal that would never have been roasted in the past because these parts are normally too tough. This is only possible because of low temperature.)

(Low temperature cooking can be done by different means but you will not have all the benefits of the ???sous vide??? technique, or all the benefits of my method.

You can cook at low temperatures with a normal pot. On the market are electric slow cookers, available for any sort of recipes)

How to prepare ???sous vide???, or vacuum cooking, without a vacuum machine.

I give you first, here, mainly for those who already know how to prepare food ???sous vide???, a short description of the process, then more details that you can read if you are interested to try this method:

Instead of placing the food to cook in a plastic pouch and vacuum it, simply wrap or roll the food in at least 5 to 6 Tisffmpqxnksf of plastic paper. Make sure to secure the plastic, then, proceed the same way you would with regular vacuum cooking. Of course the time you can keep the food with this process has nothing to do with real vacuum cooking, as there is no control on the vacuum percentage in the parcel you have prepared with this method. I recommend that you follow the same rules you follow for non vacuumed food.

Detailed processStart with this very basic recipe if you want to try ???sous vide???, as it is really easy to do. Then you can adapt my method to different meats, poultry or fish or find a recipe in the one???s we propose on this web site.

Chicken breast prepared in plastic wrapping (???sous vide??? style)

utilize chicken breast with or without skin, stuffed or not, marinated or not according to the recipe or to your choice. utilize it plain or brown it in a skillet before wrapping to have a more roasted flavour. The meat when serving after cooking will of course not be crispy anymore; but you can place it in a skillet for 2 or 3 minutes to recover it???s crispness just before arranging on plates.

1- Put the seasoned pieces of chicken breast, already stuffed, on plastic paper.

2- Roll the chicken breast thoroughly in the plastic paper, making sure to press strongly against the meat while rolling to have the maximum of air escape from the parcel. (We are not trying here to compete with a vacuum machine but we are trying to have the minimum of air inside, mainly because if too much air stays inside, the parcel will floats to the surface of the water when poaching and the cooking will be bad).Make at least 5 or 6 turns around the meat to obtain a parcel that is firm and strong enough.

3- Make a knot at each side of the parcel with a string or with the plastic itself if you have enough of it. Now, the chicken breast is ready to cook.

4- Put the parcel in a pot of water at 70°C/158°F. utilize a thermometer to make sure that you have the right temperature.

5- Keep cooking during about 20 minutes, making sure the temperature is still at 70°C/158°F, checking now and then. The time of cooking depends on the size of the chicken breast. This example is for a piece of 180g/6oz and should not be more than 20 minutes.

Make sure if you cook a stuffed breast of chicken to adjust the cooking time to the size and also to the stuffing. (If you stuff with cooked mushrooms the cooking size will be shorter than a stuffing made with raw meat for instance.)6- When done, serve immediately with the sauce of your choice. (Slice the chicken breast to have a nicer presentation)

Notes If you have chosen to prepare the chicken breast in advance, don???t cook them but place in the fridge for one day maximum. If you want to serve the chicken breasts later, freeze them. Keep up to a few weeks. (It is better not to keep food a long time in a freezer as it will start to dry and be ???burnt??? by the cold after a few month. Make sure to defrost the meat before starting to cook.

If you have at home an electric slow cooker pot, you can utilize it to prepare this recipe. Fill it up with water and set the thermometer (if available) at 70°C/158°F.

In the early 1970s one citibank student loan consolidation the first celebrity chefs hit the TV screens of Australia and Great Britain in the form of Graham Kerr, ‘The Galloping Gourmet’.

Kerr was a leader in stripping away a lot of the over-complicated cooking methods still being peddled in many cookbooks. His teaching premise was as simple as his recipes - learn a basic method first and everything else will follow.

My recipe for boiled rice is a variation on his original method, the main difference being the addition of vinegar to the boiling water. It’s simple, uncomplicated and foolproof.

For 2-3 people:

The trick is to have a medium sized saucepan with a lid, plus a colander or sieve that will fit inside the rim of the pan.

Bring about 3 liters of salted water, plus one quarter cup of white vinegar, to boil in the pan. Add to this one coffee mug of long grain rice, stir it once (and once only), partially cover and cook on a medium heat for exactly 15 minutes.

Drain the rice into the colander and rinse it briefly under cold injury compensation to remove any excess starch clinging to the grains. There won’t be very much, that is the purpose of the vinegar - which will not, I promise you, adversely flavor the rice.

Now put about three inches of water in the bottom of the pan and bring it to the boil. Put the colander with the rice on the pan, and the pan lid over the rice.

Reduce the heat and steam the rice for around ten minutes - or until flat rate data recovery are ready to utilize it. It will be perfectly cooked, light and fluffy.

Top Tip: When steaming in this way, add a marble or small pebble to the pan. If the water begins to boil dry you’ll hear about it!

One huge advantage of this method is that you can prepare your rice cheapest life insurance and simply keep it in the fridge until you need it - even overnight if necessary. Be sure to cover it though, to prevent it drying out.

You can either re-heat it using the steaming method given above or utilize it cold for salads. Of course you can also utilize it at this stage for your favorite fried rice recipe if you wish.

You can produce yellow rice by adding saffron or a teaspoon of turmeric to the water before adding the rice, or add a handful of chopped bell pepper to produce a nice decorative effect.

A mix of dried herbs will also give you an excellent savory rice. In fact, once you understand the basic method, the end result is only limited by your imagination.
