Multiregion Blu-Ray DVD Players - What Are They?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

BLU-RAY (aka BLURAY) HI-defintion players are not the same worldwide. In fact a BLU-RAY disc from one of the three REGIONS won’t usually play at all on players from the other two regions.

What are these regions and why are they? See below.

But is there such a thing as a MULTIREGION BLU-RAY player and if so will you need a special Multisystem TV?

Yes, MULTIREGION BLU-RAY players do exist today and no you don’t need a PAL-NTSC TV to display the BLURAY movies. Any working TV with HDMI input will work fine.

BLU-RAY REGIONs A and B and C and DVD REGIONs 1 and 2 will be available around March 1st 2008.

What are BLU-RAY “Regional Codes”? “Country Codes”? “Zones”? and will they affect you and me?

Hollywood producers want to control the home release of movies in different countries because theater releases are often on different dates in the world wide release of a movie.
A movie may come out on Blu-ray Disc in the U.S. when it’s just hitting screens in Europe so to prevent various regions of the world from buying the BLU-RAY movies before they have come out in cinemas, thereby reducing the box office sales of those films and certainly the eventual BLU-RAY dvd release as well of those films there are devices created to stop such TV viewing of new movies.

Besides being able to see movies before approved release dates many films come out in various edited versions. Some have scenes deleted or augmented in various versions but if you want the complete unedited version of your favorite film and it isn’t available in your country you might normally have no way of ever seeing it unless you traveled to a country having your version available. But just because you can see it in that country doesn’t mean you can take it home and view it on your player and on your TV. Quite the contrary. That’s where a multiregion BLU-RAY DVD player comes in.

To block you studio require that the Blu-ray standard include codes to prevent playback of certain discs in certain geographical regions. Each player is given a code for the region in which it’s sold. The player will refuse to play discs that are not coded for its region. This means that a disc bought in one country may not play on a player bought in another country and even if it could there is the matter of the VIDEO STANDARD to deal with. There are two standards in regular DVDs and two in BLU-RAY (Please rad below about male enhancement as actually in HDMI there are NO video standards) and they are NTSC and PAL. These alone make it impossible to view a disc of one standard on a TV that isn’t of that standard even if you have a MULTIREGION BLU-RAY DVD player. The TV must match (unless you have a BLU-RAY discs playing in a MULTIREGION PLAYER via HDMI output)!

These TVs do exit and come in all video standards, formats (tune type CRT-LCD-PLASMA etc.) sizes and voltages. Or you can buy a quality DIGITAL VIDEO STANDARDS converter such as a TENLAB and simply use any working TV on earth to view your movies.

But please note:
If you out a BLU-RAY movie via the HMDI cable to an HMDI TV of any standard (PAL, NTSC, SECAM etc.) you will see a perfect picture as BLU-RAY and HDMI have done away with the traditional Video Standards like PAL, NTSC etc.
If you have a BLU-RAY region C disc it will play on all BLU-RAY players worldwide as there is no REGION C lock on them.
So any BLU-RAY region free for regions A and B or any BLU-RAY player that is not multiregion will play all REGION C BLU-RAY discs on any TV with HDMI input.
Miracle, the age of having to deal with non-compatible video standards has ended. Only REGIONS A and B are still incompatible and with a MULTIREGION (AKA MULTI-REGION, MULTI REGION etc.) player one can view any and ALL Blu-Ray movies on any TV on earth with HDMI.

To be confusing however please note:
If your TV does not have an HDMI input then you will still be stuck needing a PAL-NTSC TV or a video standards converter to view BLU-RAY movies via the RCA or S-VIDEO video output.

3 regions (also called locales or zones) have been defined, and each one is assigned a number. Players and discs are often identified by their region number superimposed on a world globe. If a disc plays in more than one region it will have more than one number on the globe.

Region A: North America, Central America, South America, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia

Region B: Europe, Greenland, French territories, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand

Region C: Pakistan, India, Mainland China, Russia, Central and South Asia

PSP Game Iso’s - How to Find and Install Them in Your PSP

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

So you want to download PSP game iso’s. You obviously want to get your hands insurance estimates more games than you are willing to pay for. The Sony Play Station Portable (PSP) itself doesn’t come cheap; after all, it’s a sleek handheld game console, music and video player, and with some homebrew apps, turns into a PDA. The PSP games themselves cost a bundle each. So the solution is to download PSP game iso’s, for free, if you can, and enjoy the games. This article shows you how to find websites with PSP game iso downloads, websites that offer the best download experience. We will also cover the installation of the downloaded games.

Websites that offer PSP game iso downloads fall into two categories. The free and the nonfree. The nonfree is better, as you will see. The free websites you can tell with the tons of pop up and banners ads, the slow download speed, the limited selection of games, the spyware and adware that sneaks into your PC after the download completes in a day.

The paid for or commercial websites offer more than just PSP game iso downloads - wallpapers, music, video, instructional guides, and so on. The problem lies in the joining fee, monthly membership fee, and in some instances a per-download fee. The commercials sites however offer the reverse of mostly everything the free sites have - fast download, wide array of games, no spyware, and so on.

The trick is to find commercial sites that offer only a one-time joining fee, and afterwards allows you access to its database of PSP game iso’s, among other things. If you can find sites like that, you will have a headache free experience in choosing from a library of demo and full package games to download.

Before you download game, be sure you check if your PSP’s firmware allows you to run those games. Sometimes you might need to downgrade your PSP’s firmware to an older one, especially since you might be playing hacked games and game emulators (SNES, GameBoy, etc.). Corrupt files downloaded are often traceable to firmware’s incompatibility with the games. So read the instructions on downloads on the website well.

Be sure you will be downloading PSP game iso files. If you bought the full game, the instructions and installation will be simple and easy. If you chose the demo, and this is recommended, you can have access to a part of the game so you won’t have to uninstall a stupid game later on; instead, just download the whole game. After all, you paid for unlimited access, and not on a per-download basis.

That’s it. Have fun downloading and installing PSP game iso’s.

3 Ways Your Small Business Can Go Green With Video Conferencing - Starting Tomorrow (Part 1)

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

While planning your 2008 business goals and objectives, why not plan to go green and pocket more profits at the same time?

When it comes to the environment, being a good global citizen starts in your own business.
From recycling to using alternative cleaning products, minor changes can add up to real benefits for the planet. Not to mention your own health and happiness.

And every little bit helps.

1) Telecommuting: Video Conferencing can be used for telecommuters in your business. Employees will be able to work from a home office and still be able to meet face-to-face and collaborate in real time just like they would if they were in the office.

Did you know that Americans waste an average of 47 hours every week during rush hour traffic? That’s 23 billion gallons of gas wasted and thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide pollution.

Not only is the reduction in weekly travel time beneficial to the environment, but the added time to their day will improve worklife balance.

2) Board of Director and/or Sales Meetings:It’s challenging for businesses to arrange meetings around everyone’s schedule. By moving just one sales meeting or presentation online, you’ll save the environment 2,690 pounds of carbon dioxide pollution.

Two people traveling from Chicago to San Francisco save 4,696 pounds of carbon emissions. If every business canceled one business trip alone, carbon dioxide pollution would be hugely decreased!

3) Access to Remote Clients or Customers: Business employees often drive across town or travel across the globe to meet with clients to go over important documents or to give powerpoint presentations.

Video conferencing can eliminate that business trip and allow you to meet face-to-face to mark up architectural CAD files or present that new marketing campaign in real time just like would in person.

And you won’t have to fight long lines, delays, and tight security at the airport.

Your business can make a huge impact on lowering carbon dioxide pollution in the atmosphere by staying off the road and audio conference call of the skies.

These are just three ways your company can use video conferencing to go green - starting tomorrow. To get your company ahead of the curve, consider implementing a video conferencing solution now to do your part in saving the environment.

Internet and Business Online and Business Reinvention

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Every business changes to meet the expectations of their customers and to respond to current and expected changes in things like the economy, fashion, personal taste, generational dictates and more.

For instance if your local Sears store hadn’t changed over the years it would still be called Sears and Roebuck and would sell primarily from catalogs.

It is subtle, yet significant changes that chart the path for business productivity in a new era. Every business must respond to the need for business reinvention.

This is why retailers respond to seasonal alterations in product offerings. This is why you will find clearance racks containing merchandise they will no longer be selling. They make this move in response to the pressure of outside influences that are often useful in altering the business course even if only by a few degrees.

The method of reaching consumers has changed as well. Radio, television and print media are still used to reach out to consumers, but the options have opened significantly as consumers respond to online ads and other non-traditional media to make purchasing decisions.

Your online business can’t remain where it is today and thrive six months from now. You will need to pay attention to your customers, adjust content, revisit your offerings and welcome new merchandise to your stable of offerings. You will need to speak the common language of your customers and focus your advertising on the demographics that are most likely to buy your product.

Let’s say, for the sake of argument that your website is designed to appeal to those who are 25-35 years of age. If you have the same exact website and offer the same exact items five years from now you might lose 50% of your customer base. While you kept things on track and resisted change the top end of your demographic may have been silently slipping away while those moving into your target still felt as if the site were for people older then they were. Can you see how the bubble shrinks in this scenario? You didn’t grow with the older portion of your base, and you didn’t intentionally welcome others.

If you aren’t constantly working toward welcoming the youngest members of your demographic range you are missing the opportunity to reach them. By the time you realize your mistake you may have already forfeited the opportunity to serve them.

By remaining diligent in adjusting you can help your the cheapest car insurance remain relevant in a changing sales environment. This might mean freshening your logo, revamping your website and an altering product offerings. It requires that you pay attention to trends and solicit feedback from every age group in your demographic.

The method by which you share your message might change as time goes on, but if you refuse to consider opening your eyes to the possibilities of meaningful change you may be consigning your business to a slow and painful demise.

There aren’t many who like to see their home furnishings in the same place for the rest of their lives. Move your cyber furniture, add something new, replace things along the way and make your place in cyber space a welcoming environment for those who have been looking for what you offer.

The Best Mp3 Players Available!

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

I don’t know about you but, I never really got into the whole iPod deal. I never really understood what the big deal was between an Apple iPod or an Mp3 player, I mean really what is the difference! I see none where I’m standing! I had a friend a few months that got one of those really tiny Apple iPods, ya it held like 500 songs but the buttons were so small you had to tap the keys with the tip of a pen to switch songs, or turn up the volume! I mean, was that the allure? Because it’s small and it fits in your pocket? Weird. What I did get into though was Mp3 players, these are nicer, badder, and more awesome than those puny iPods! And you don’t need a pen tip to change the song either! Personally I bought a Cowon D2, it got terrific reviews, its sleek, it fits in my pocket, I can put thousands of songs on it, the quality is outstanding and I have been happy with it ever since I got it!

Another terrific Mp3 player, however, is one called Arcos 500951 605, this one has a nice big screen so you don’t have to squint in order to watch the movies you put on the player, crystal clear screen it actually has the highest screen Resolution (800×480) and the highest quality screen in a Portable Media Player (PMP). Use the touch-screen to easily operate the device with your finger or stylus. Fabulous sound and it’s huge, you can upload 40,000 photos, 2,000 songs or 5 movies or a little bit of everything. And lastly? The price? It’s the ultimate package for less than $200. Awesome!

A second one I had heard a lot of great things about was called Philips GoGear SA9200 2GB. This one is quite simple but it still does what its supposed to and it does it well! Enjoy total control of your music and photos instantly, thanks to a super-smart, super-responsive menu. Switch on your GoGear and marvel at how it comes to life to reveal a vibrant, full-colored LCD. 2 GB capacity for up to 1,000 songs or up to 500 pictures, So i’ts not as large as the Cowon or the Arcos but remember you CAN delete and add new songs/pictures to your player, and you can do it quite easily.

And lastly here is one I bought for my mom its called the Virtual Touch VT-2, it’’s a touch screen media player. But the reason I got this for my mom was because she doesn’t have young eyes like she used to (sorry mom) so she either has to put her glasses on or squint. She loves watching movies so I figured hey, I may as well get her one of these as a surprise. It’s big enough for her space wise at 2GB it holds about two movies (4 hours altogether) and the screen is 3 inches and has a nice resolution as well. She loves it, I love it, she loves me. Hey what else could I ask for!

Of course there are 5 zillion other ones out there including the puny Apple iPods but these are ones I have either heard rave reviews about or that I have had personal experience with. Good luck in your search for the perfect Mp3 player!

Two Ways To Hedge The Falling Dollar

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

With the dollar getting weaker every day, prudent investors need to take action to hedge their exposure to the ailing greenback. I’m not suggesting you dump all your stocks and buy gold and wheat futures, but the trend is too strong to ignore. Here are two simple ways to hedge your bets.

Invest In Foreign Stock Mutual Funds

Probably the easiest way to hedge against the falling dollar is to invest in cheap Viagra stock mutual funds. Most foreign stock funds are unhedged, meaning they own stocks directly on foreign exchanges denominated in foreign currencies. If the dollar falls relative to those other currencies, you gain even if the underlying stocks themselves don’t budge.

Just as I recommend index funds for your US stock exposure, I also highly recommend them for your international stock allocation. Like their domestic counterparts, foreign stock index funds offer rock-bottom expenses, tax efficiency, and higher over-all returns than their actively-managed brethren. You should consider investing anywhere from 25% to 50% of your over-all stock allocation to foreign stocks to hedge your dollar exposure as well as achieve the more obvious diversification benefits.

Lend Money To Foreign Governments

Those of you who want foreign currency exposure without taking on the additional risk inherent with all equity invests should consider investing in foreign government bond funds. Developed market governments such as Australia, Japan, or the UK are excellent credit risks and often offer attractive rates on government issues in their respective currencies. If the dollar declines, you get both the promised interest payments and a currency boost. If the dollar life insurance estimates you still get the interest payment to soften the blow. Many foreign bond funds hedge their currency exposure so it’s important to find an unhedged fund if currency diversification is your goal. When in doubt, check the prospectus. One reasonably-priced unhedged foreign bond fund I recommend is the T Rowe Price International Bond Fund (RPIBX). You might consider investing anywhere from 10% to 30% of your bond allocation to foreign bonds to achieve adequate diversification.

Winter Basketball Team Fundraiser - Coffee and Candy at the Game!

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

With basketball season, comes the need for additional funds that the basketball team needs to raise for uniforms, trips, equipment MESOTHELIOMA advice more. There are some great, easy ways for your basketball team to raise money for the season.

Your basketball team can do a coffee and candy fundraiser. Because money is tight for everyone, it is great to be able to offer something people can enjoy that is cheap and tasty at the game. Coffee is incredibly affordable and can be sold for a profit during your season games. All you need to do is have parents, the basketball cheerleaders, siblings, team helpers or members of the team who might be injured set up a booth and sell refreshments during the game.

To make it really easy, buying candy at a big box store, and adding water bottles or soda to the list too is a great way to go. But, because it can be chilly during the basketball season, having hot coffee for sale is a great way to boost sales.

Have the basketball cheerleaders direct the fans to visit the basketball team coffee and candy booth and support the team often throughout the breaks in the game. Make an announcement and have posters up so the fans know that by purchasing coffee and candy, they are supporting your basketball team fundraising efforts.

You could also add baked goods to your coffee and candy refreshment stand, which is another enticing way to make extra money if you don’t mind a little extra work. You can sell everything at your booth for $1 and you can have your booth at every game. Once you have the inventory, it’s easy. Encourage each member of the basketball team to tell a few people not to stop for coffee on the way to the game - wait and support the team and buy your coffee and treats AT the game.

Cameras For Home Video Surveillance Systems

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

When it was first introduced, debt consolidation loans surveillance systems were used primarily by medium to large businesses. Currently however, they are becoming much more common in homes. video surveillance security systems are also known as closed circuit TV (CCTV) and are used to monitor vulnerable areas around the home to provide protection from burglars and other threats.

A viewing monitor is a key component in a home video surveillance system. Such a monitor displays video images from cameras. These images are often black and white and will have a much higher resolution than the images from an analog TV set - say, from 500-1000 lines.

The surveillance cameras are also an important component. When setting up the home surveillance system, the cameras are installed strategically around the outside of the home, in the most vulnerable locations. They should be placed where they are hidden or difficult to see. The cameras are always running, transmitting video to the monitors on an ongoing basis. To be effective at night, you will need either lighting or infrared security cameras which can monitor in complete darkness.

A requirement of a video surveillance system, other than a wireless system, is a coaxial cable. These cables transmit video signals from the camera to a monitor. You can get many different kinds and sizes and find one that’s right for your equipment at most security suppliers and electronics stores. While your home security system will come with coaxial cables, the location and set-up of your system might mean you need more.

A home video surveillance system should be controlled by switchers. The switches allow one monitor to show feeds from multiple cameras. If movement is detected by a motion sensor in one of the cameras, the switcher will lock the onto that camera feed. Otherwise, the switcher will cycle through each feed in turn.

There are some home video surveillance systems that utilize video recorders to record any live video feed that you program. This can be useful if you travel a lot, as the recorder can capture a break in as it occurs. If the case goes to court or to the police, you can use the video recording as evidence. Video recorders can catch burglars in the act - especially if you locate the camera where it is hard to spot.

By combining video surveillance cameras and a monitor, a home video surveillance system will catch break-in’s and burglars easily. They’re very affordable now, and they are used in literally thousands of homes all over the U.S. If you want the best way to protect a home, the home video surveillance system is definitely something which you will want to examine more closely.

Educating Yourself About Home Theater Systems

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Shopping today is very different from the way it was. In the olden days you walked into a store raid data recovery restore either bought what was on the shelf or whatever some sales person recommended. That worked because the selection was limited, you could still trust a brand, and sales people generally knew their products (which is often not the case anymore today). But times have changed. If you think of buying something as expensive and complex as, for example, a home theater system, you’ll want more information than a bored sales associate at an electronics store is likely to give you.

People often talk about Web 2.0. It is a term that loosely describes the use of the Web for information sharing, social networks and web-based communities. Web 2.0 means websites where people contribute, generate content, help each other, and share experiences and opinions. Blogs are a Web 2.0 phenomenon, as are the customer reviews now commonly found attached to product listings. Have you noticed that today, when you want to buy something and look it up on the web, there are not only sites that only offer customer opinions and reviews, but that company websites have them also? If you go to a department store website it’s not uncommon to find dozens of customer reviews and ratings with products, whether it’s something complex like DVD recorders, DVD players, or even just a hair drier.

These ratings are reviews are very useful, and I applaud companies for including them (not all of them are positive). I often make a buying decision after I read what a number of other people have said about a product. I rely on those opinions so much that I often look up ratings and opinions on my iPhone while I am in a store. That works, but it can be a bit cumbersome and it’s really better to do your research at home. But that is where you run into another problem: the Web has become so huge and commercialized that it’s often difficult to find genuine information as opposed to sites with tons of ads and almost nothing of substance. If you think of setting up a home cinema and want to learn about the latest projectors, video switches and 1080p HDTVs, it’s frustrating to have to sift through dozens of sites without getting good information.

The secret is to know where to look. There are sites that combine product reviews, product news, and just general product information in numerous categories. They may include YouTube videos explaining and demonstrating products, link collections to products and reviews of interest, RSS feeds, and more. The key is that it’s all in one place so you can learn about products, see them, see what others have to say about them, and then also get an idea about costs. For complex, expensive items like home theater systems, educating yourself as much as you can is essential and can save you a lot of money.

The web is a wonderful thing. I knew next to nothing about home theater systems before I bought one myself. Research and a few dedicated websites on the technology helped tremendously.
